The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I had a professional career with the U.S. Forest Service for 35 years. When I retired 6 years ago, I was the Fire Management Officer on the National Scenic Area in Hood River, Oregon. I also was very community oriented, belonging to a volunteer fire department, either as a member or a board member. Teaching wildland fire classes around the U.S., also kept me busy. My wife and I have been married for 36 years and we have three grown daughters and 6 grandchildren. In July of 2008 I suffered a cardiac arrest and stroke and have been working hard to recover from that very serious health scare. We are in the process of having a new home built in Central Oregon and are moving there to be closer to our daughters and grandchildren. We had spent 17 years living in Hood River, OR. My time at Penn State, Mont Alto Campus was a wonderful place to get an education. I think of that time fondly and all the good times I had there. The faculty was great! Hopefully, one of these years I will get back for another reunion. Thanks for the memories!! Rowan "Pete" Peterson.
